November is #lungcancerawarenessmonth which aims to raise awareness of the third most common type of cancer in the UK.
Lung cancer is also the most common cause of cancer death in the UK, accounting for 21% of all cancer deaths.
At CancerCare we've helped support more than 100 people with lung cancer over the last three years and it accounts for around 1 in 12 of our clients who come to us with a cancer diagnosis.
Early diagnosis is key to boosting survival rates and timely detection makes it much more treatable, so the campaign aims to encourage people to recognise symptoms (such as a persistent cough, breathlessness and sudden weight loss) and to see their GP as soon as possible.
