Informal support and advice
Whether it’s informal support and advice or a simple natter over a brew, CancerCare is the "go-to" charity. Many or our staff and volunteers can provide expert advice on a variety of subjects from treatment side-effects to benefit entitlement. Many of our people also have real-life experience of cancer so can provide a human perspective on what you are going through. We also organise regular online support groups attended by health professionals and similar charities such as Macmillan.
Face-to-face
Away from a clinical setting, we can provide informal advice and support. As they say: "a problem shared is a problem halved." As the Covid situation continues to improve, we are counting down the days to when we can welcome you back to our regular drop-in support sessions.
Whether it’s expert advice or a simple natter over a brew, our monthly coffee mornings are a regular source of informal support with clients and staff rubbing shoulders to share their experiences as well as a slice of cake.
We also have a comprehensive list of general and specialist support groups taking place across the area. Contact us for details.
Online
Technology has enabled us to provide group support for our clients from the comfort of their own homes. Once a month we join forces with Macmillan for the Bay Footprint Cancer Support group which is a more formal forum for people to discuss cancer-related topics such as treatment side-effects, relationship issues and benefit entitlement.
