On 19th August a group of friends and family are completing a multiple charity challenge to raise funds for causes close to their hearts, they are known as Team Dylan.
Dylan Hay, Steven Hay and 12 others are completing the National Three Peak Challenge which involves climbing the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
In 2021 the Hay family tragically lost their beloved mum/wife to suicide. Steven, Dylan and Emily received support from Papyrus Suicide Prevention, St John’s Hospice ‘Forget me not Centre’ and CancerCare and have therefore decided to raise funds for these special charities in their family.
The Hay family were completing the Wainwrights mountains which in June 2021 included an ascent of Scafell Pike, this makes the challenge even more so fitting with the date chosen commemorating the two year loss.
The total walking distance is 23 miles with a total accent of 10,052ft and they aim to complete this challenge in 24 hours including travel time!
Dylan Hay will be the youngest member of the team at just 12 years old and will be pushed to limit, but with plenty of training and help from the rest of the team this will an achievement he can complete.
Team Dylan have set a target of £5,000 and have so far raised just over £8,300 with five months left! This has made them even more ambitious and want to push on for an even higher target.
Dylan says "I just want to give a massive thank you on behalf of everyone at Team Dylan for your generous sponsorship , your support is greatly appreciated. All the money donated I assure you is going to some worthy causes and I hope that you continue to be part of these causes in the future."
We can’t wait to hear more about this exciting challenge!
