One of our most popular “hands-on” therapies at the moment is reflexology.

Reflexology is a type of massage that involves applying pressure to the feet, hands and ears which can promote a range of health benefits including reducing stress and anxiety, lifting mood and improving general well-being.

We have five experienced reflexologists covering all our centres and they have never been busier.

In 2019, before the covid pandemic, we would deliver around 20+ reflexology session each month – at present, this figure is regularly 40+.

One of our most prolific practitioners is Liz McGrory (pictured) who works from our Barrow Centre after joining CancerCare in mid-2019.

According to Liz, the benefits of reflexology are manifold and can help boost both mental and physical health.

“Reflexology is suitable for most people, especially clients who find it difficult getting comfy. It allows them to relax, let go and just be in the moment. Clients are often amazed by the feeling of utter calm they experience in the days following their treatments and often mention how much less agitated they are,” said Liz.

Hands on therapies such as reflexology and aromatherapy, are also often just as beneficial for people’s mental health as counselling as the therapists are skilled and willing listeners to whom clients often “offload” their thoughts and feelings.
