Local drumming group Batala Lancaster have chosen CancerCare to be their charity of the year 2024!
Every year, members of the Batala Lancaster nominate and cast votes for their charity of the year, and this year they chose CancerCare.
What makes this brilliant news even better is that 2024 is Batala Lancasters’ 20th anniversary year. Having just celebrated our own 40th anniversary, we know how important and special these milestones are.
Batala Lancaster, established in 2004, are a community samba-reggae drumming band based in Lancaster. They raise money through charity busking events; you may have seen them perform at Kendal Calling Festival, Lancaster Music Festival, or one of many other local gigs. Keep an eye out for them and their upcoming performances.
We are planning some exciting events to support this partnership, including Batala Lancaster drumming our walkers off on our annual Cross Bay Walk on Father’s Day, on 16th June 2024. The walkers will march from Arnside across Morecambe Bay to the drum beat of the Batala. There is also talk of a potential workshop for budding young drummers, so have your sticks at the ready and watch this space!
By making CancerCare your chosen charity, you and your business will be supporting us to provide vital work across the North Lancashire and South Cumbria area. Being a local independent charity, over 90% of our funding comes from donations and partnerships like this. Every penny raised goes towards our community and supporting people affected by cancer and bereavement. Without you and your donations, we wouldn’t be here!
