Alison commenced her nursing career in 1981 and has been advocate of CancerCare throughout.

She has worked predominantly in cancer nursing in clinical, managerial and strategic roles. She was Lead Cancer Nurse at University Hospitals at Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust until her retirement in December 2021.
