A mother and son duo from Morecambe will hit the tracks at 8pm on Thursday 2nd March, on their four mile run. They aim to complete four miles, every four hours for 48 hours… with limited sleep!

A sporty mum and son from Morecambe will be take on a sinew stretching challenge which will see them run over 52 miles in 48 hours!

This weekend, Janet Silverwood and her son George aged 24, will be doing special 4x4x48 which involves running four miles every four hours over a 48-hour period. The pair will begin their feat of athletic endurance at their home on Morecambe Road and they will complete a loop around the area finishing on Saturday 4th March at 4pm. They are aiming to raise money for us after we helped Janet’s close friend Janet Butler following her breast cancer diagnosis.

Janet will be showing her support for their efforts by joining them for the final four-mile stretch of their run.

Janet, who is a Physical Training Instructor, and George are under illusions about how arduous the challenge will be and they have both been building up their strength and stamina in preparation.

“After hearing about the challenge on New Years Eve I thought why not! I couldn’t stop thinking about it and after two weeks of trying to persuade George, he finally caved and agreed. The hardest part will definitely be the lack of sleep and sore legs, but with the encouragement of friends, family and neighbours, we will power on through the pain,” said Janet.

The final leg will see them running along Morecambe Promenade before heading to the finish at Lancaster & Morecambe College at 4pm so if you see them, be sure to give them a cheer of encouragement.
