Earlier in the summer, Dr Amy Ford and her partner Rupert Lavender completed the fierce Fred Whitton Challenge...but on a tandem!

The Wheelbase Fred Whitton Challenge is a 112-mile cycle around the Lake District, starting at Grasmere and taking in some of Cumbria’s hardest climbs including Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott, Wrynose and Blea Tarn passes.

Dr Ford, a local doctor on the Oncology Units across the Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, completed the challenge in 11 hours and 20 minutes. The couple were the first tandem to cross the finish line raising over £1,600 for CancerCare along the way.
