Join Team CancerCare on 10 May 2025 for the ultimate charity walk, the Keswick 2 Barrow. Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Lake District whilst doing something amazing for charity!
The K2B is a sponsored 40-mile walk/run through some of the most glorious scenery in the world and is recognised as one of Cumbria’s most iconic walks. Along the route you will head through Grasmere and Elterwater, also passing through the Langdales, Coniston and Lowick along the way to the destination of Barrow where rest and well-earned refreshments will be waiting for you.
The event will take place alongside the increasingly popular Coniston 2 Barrow, a shorter 20-mile walk designed for families and younger hikers wanting to take on a sponsored challenge walk.
The K2B originated from a statement made in 1966 by John F Kennedy that "Every American should be capable of walking 50 miles a day". The first walk took place in April 1967 when a group of American citizens working at Barrow shipyard challenged their UK colleagues to form a team and walk from Keswick to Barrow. Since then, thousands of people have taken on this challenge either with friends, colleagues or as individuals.
Last year, £7,700 was raised for CancerCare and since starting in 2017, a staggering £53k has made its way to us.
