CancerCare has been honoured to receive a very special donation of £2,000, included as a gift to the charity in the Will of the late Mrs Audrey Ross from Kendal.
Audrey dedicated much of her life to voluntary service within the local community, as Charmain of Kendal Mothers’ Club, a Governor at Brantfield Nursery School, a committee member with Market Place Books and 27 years as a Justice of the Peace. Her family will also remember her as a great ‘people person’ and a wonderful mother.
CancerCare Fundraiser, Anna Webster, said “Audrey’s passion for helping the local community will live on through her kind donation to CancerCare with a gift in her Will. This thoughtful donation is already making a difference; ensuring that families in the South Cumbria area facing cancer or bereavement, can get the support they need at every step of the way.”
Audrey’s husband, John Ross, said “CancerCare does a very valuable job in the community. Both Audrey and I were well acquainted with cancer and we know of several other people who have received help at CancerCare’s Kendal centre.”
Around a quarter of CancerCare’s work supporting local people affected by cancer or bereavement is funded by Gifts in Wills. In 2021/2022, the charity has been grateful to receive gifts ranging from £100 to £250,000.
