A post-operative surgical nurse ran 100k in May to raise funds for CancerCare.

Jessica Birkby raised £586 (including GiftAid) and we’re so grateful to her for helping us help those in the local community who need it the most.

Jessica said: “I am always up for a challenge, and after a recent work seminar, I was inspired to run 100k in May to raise money for CancerCare.

“As a post-operative surgical nurse, I see first-hand the impact of cancer on patients and their families. It is often an overwhelming and tumultuous time, and when discharging patients from the hospital, I always worry if they are getting enough support.

“CancerCare is a wonderful charity that aids patients and their relatives throughout their cancer journeys and beyond. We are very fortunate to have such a valuable local service, and I am proud to have completed this challenge in their honour.”
