Last year our therapists spent just over 10,000 hours listening to our adults and children in 1-to-1 therapy session. Having a cancer diagnosis or coping with a bereavement can be a very difficult time and having someone listen to you can make all the difference. We want to acknowledge the hours spent supporting our clients and say a thank you to all our wonderful therapists whilst raising vital funds to continue our services.
The campaign ‘Every Step Counts’ aims to raise £10,000 for CancerCare, by participants taking on our new walking challenge which is all about taking time out of our busy lives, to enjoy the beauty of nature and to explore the breathtaking Bay landscape.
Anyone can get involved, whether you're a solo hiker, part of a walking group, a corporate team, or wanting to find something to do with your kids, and at least 3 of the walks are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
It costs £15 to sign up to take on the challenge, and we'll send you a handmade knitted bird, lovingly made by one of our volunteers and clients. Walkers can take their bird with them, then we’re asking for you to post a birdie selfie at some of the key milestone/viewing points around the walks, and share your photos on social media or email them to our team to feature on our socials. You will also receive a free Walker's Guide, which will include 12 local walks, of varying ability.
The walks can be completed in whichever order, anytime before April 2025, and participants will receive a certificate from CancerCare for achieving either 3, 8 or all 12 walks.
Any fundraising or sponsorship is appreciated, but we’d love for you to set a target of £120 per walker or family group. Set up your JustGiving page below.
By fundraising, you take CancerCare one step closer to being there for everyone that needs us.
