Join CancerCare for a walk to the beautiful Chapel Island which nestles in the Leven Estuary in the stunning sands of Morecambe Bay.
This
unique route sets off from Canal Foot (near Ulverston), from where we will
stroll along the sands to enjoy the breath-taking vastness of the Bay. We will
then cross the River Leven and walk to Chapel Island, where those wishing to
can explore the island and its vast array of wildlife. The historic Collins
Weir, an old cart-line which appeared in 2024 after remaining covered by the
sands for over 70 years, will still be visible this year. The walk returns to
Canal Foot. The circular route is estimated between
two to six miles, taking approx. three hours to complete.
Whilst
this is not a difficult walk, participants are advised to have a decent level
of fitness. You will be safely guided across the shifting sands by royally
appointed guide, Raymond Porter. Join us for an amazing day to remember.
