Here at CancerCare, we love to hear about how we’ve been able to help and support our clients during some of the most difficult times of their lives.

People come through our doors for various personal reasons and every individual’s experience of using our services is uniquely different. Sharing your story can help us greatly, from encouraging other people to have the courage to step forward and access our services when they need us to increasing public awareness of our charity.

We would love you to share your experience of visiting CancerCare. To begin the process, please email marketing@cancercare.org.uk which can also be found on your postcard. As a minimum, please include a brief introduction including your name, details of the service you accessed and a contact number, then a member of CancerCare’s marketing team will be in touch via phone to chat. You could also arrange a time to pop into one of our centres if you would rather share your story in person.

We understand that talking about such a personal topic may bring up difficult emotions for you, so you will only be asked to share as much information as you feel comfortable with.

Once you’ve spoken to our marketing team, you will be asked to approve the copy via email to ensure all the details are correct. You can liaise about amendments either via email or via phone. If you would be happy to provide a photo, you will be asked to send one over to accompany the article, or we could arrange for a photograph to be taken in person if you wish.

Your story will be posted on the CancerCare website and on our social media channels. We may also approach the local press about publishing your story, but if we intend to pursue this avenue you will be notified in advance. If you do not wish for your story be published in the press or in a specific publication, please do specify this. We are also happy to publish your story anonymously if you wish.

During the process, you may change your mind about sharing your story. If you do withdraw your consent, please get in touch with the marketing team or the staff member you have been liaising with as soon as possible.
