Signs and Symptoms

One of the most effective ways to improve early diagnosis is for people to be aware of the symptoms of cancer as well as what’s considered normal for their own bodies.

It’s important to look out for physical changes and act quickly if you notice any symptoms that could be a sign of cancer, no matter how small and insignificant they may seem at the time. Finding cancer early means it will be easier to treat. Always consult your GP if you experience a symptom.

According to the NHS, the most common general symptoms of cancer include:

Coughing, chest pain and breathlessness

Changes in bowel habits

Bloating

Bleeding

Lumps

Moles

Unexplained weight loss

Tummy or back pain

Indigestion and heartburn

Itchy or yellow skin

Feeling tired and unwell
