Lived experience stories

The best research you can do is talk to people.

An important and influential part of CancerCare’s Early Diagnosis Campaign was speaking to people who had a lived experience of receiving a cancer diagnosis. These individuals went into great detail about their diagnosis journey, from the moment they first recognised a symptom to when they heard the devastating news that they had cancer.

We spoke to several people about their individual diagnosis stories. All of our Early Diagnosis Campaign lived experience stories have been kept completely anonymous to protect identities and to provide a safe space to share without fear of repercussions.

We ensured to speak to a wide range of people of all ages and background. We also endeavoured to gain insight from people diagnosed at stages one and two, as well as three and four.

Thank you to everyone who shared their story for CancerCare’s Early Diagnosis Campaign.
