What is it?

Reflexology is a type of massage that involves applying pressure to the feet, hands and ears. It is based on the theory that these body parts are connected to specific organs and body systems.

What does it involve?

Reflexology works on the idea that applying pressure to certain points on the feet, hands or ears can promote relaxation and healing in corresponding areas of the body. Practitioners often use detailed foot charts to guide them in targeting these pressure points.

You usually lie down or sit in a reclining chair to have the treatment, and a session usually lasts between 30 - 60 minutes.

How can it help you?

Reflexology can support overall wellbeing in a variety of ways:

  • Stress relief and relaxation – by stimulating nerve pathways, reflexology may help calm the nervous system and promote deep relaxation.
  • Improved circulation – the massage techniques can encourage better blood and lymphatic flow, which may support the body’s natural healing processes.
  • Pain management – some people find reflexology helpful for reducing discomfort from headaches, migraines, back pain or joint pain.
  • Better sleep – its calming effects may improve sleep quality and help regulate sleep patterns.
  • Enhanced mood – reflexology sessions are often reported to reduce anxiety, lift mood and promote a sense of balance.
  • Digestive and hormonal support – some practitioners use reflexology to help with digestive issues, menstrual discomfort, or symptoms related to hormonal changes.
  • Boosting overall wellbeing – even if not targeting a specific condition, reflexology can leave people feeling more energized, balanced and refreshed.
