What is it?

Indian head Massage is a holistic therapy that was originally used to improve scalp and hair health. Using acupressure, circular strokes and deep tissue work, Indian Head Massage can improve wellbeing, relieve stress, alleviate symptoms such as headaches, improve sleep, boost energy and enhance hair health.

What does it involve?

The practitioner uses a combination of gentle strokes, kneading, pressing on pressure points and rhythmic movements. Therapists commonly use essential oils while focusing on the upper part of the body, though it can be done without using any oil.

You will not need to undress and will receive the therapy in a seated position. Sometimes there will be calm, relaxing music playing if the client wishes.

The skull is covered with a thin layer of muscle which tightens when we are feeling tense and can result in a headache and/or feelings of anxiety. By relaxing the muscles, a head massage can improve blood flow, alleviate tension and promote relaxation throughout the whole body.

How can it help you?

As well as easing pain and encouraging stress relief, it can also boost the immune system, improve joint mobility and circulation. The stimulation of follicles on the scalp can also help promote healthy hair growth. It can relieve tension and neck stiffness, reduce anxiety, stress and fatigue, and can encourage a sense of calm and clarity.
