Well, what a time we had across the 2025 Dave Day weekend!
CancerCare was honoured to be on the two chosen charities to benefit from the proceeds raised during Dave Day, a weekend held in honour of the late TV chef and Hairy Biker Dave Myers.
After watching the convoy of approximately 30,000 bikes travel through Lancashire and South Cumbria on Saturday, we setup in Barrow town centre and at the football match, hosted by Barrow AFC for a day like no other!
Being one of the official Dave Day charities allowed us to not only meet so many wonderful people, both local and from afar, but also to raise some vital funds for CancerCare.
We are still awaiting the final total, but thank you to everyone who supported and organised the events over the weekend, and thank you to our volunteers for giving up their time to help out. Special thanks to Liliana Myers, Dave’s wife, for choosing CancerCare to be a part of this spectacular weekend in memory of Dave.
CancerCare’s CEO Alison Stainthorpe said: “We were honoured to be part of the second Dave Day Weekend. This was an incredible celebration that not only paid tribute the iconic Dave Myers, but also championed the town of Barrow and the people who make up the local community. As a local, independent charity who supports people affected by cancer and bereavement across North Lancashire and South Cumbria, events as such are vital for raising awareness of our services. We hope that more people are now aware of what CancerCare could offer them during a time of need. We are so grateful for everyone who donated so we can continue to be there for families in our community.”
It’s not too late to show your support!
