Skye from our young people’s peer support group got a unique “access all areas” experience of the music industry this week!

Skye took part in the Get it Loud in Libraries (GILIL) Gig Camp at a show from acclaimed artist Enny at Lancaster Central Library which saw her involved in a variety of aspects of putting on, and promoting, live music including marketing, digital media, photography - she even interviewed Enny for the press!

The GILIL Academy is a project which offers young people a wide range of workshops and activities linked to the programme of gigs from exciting contemporary artists it puts on at libraries across the UK. The aim is to prepare young people for a career in the music sector by highlighting the vast array of opportunities on offer.

Skye comes to our Lancaster Re-Fresh Peer Support Group, which provides fun and support for young people affected by cancer and bereavement, and was put forward for the Gig Camp by our youth worker Suzee Tylee.

She obviously impressed on the day with GILIL Youth Outreach and Partnership Development Manager Tabby saying: “It was a pleasure to have her, and she truly excelled on the day."

Well done Skye and thanks to all the team at the GILIL for the opportunity!
