Our Fisher Block building at our centre in Slynedales is a great venue for groups to meet. For over a year Sally Rigg, a Colorectal Cancer SSM Coordinator for the NHS has been hosting her Self-Management Workshops at our centre.
These workshops are held in a group setting with up to 6 patients, so individuals can get the most out of the sessions. By holding these workshops at CancerCare Sally is able introduce our services and highlight the support we offer.
"We are grateful to be able to bring our patients into a face-to-face environment away from the hospital. The feedback has been 100% positive and many of our patients have gone on to access the services CancerCare provide, from counselling to holistic therapies as well as going along to the 'Hug in a Mug' group to chat to other people and making new friends," said Sally.
Our very own Development and Engagement Officer, Sarah Drake has been invited on several occasions to present and chat to patients about CancerCare.
"Sarah's contributions have not only been invaluable in advising how CancerCare can help, but it has enabled patients to open up and talk freely about their own feelings, needs and concerns," said Sally.
