You may remember last month we told you about semi-permanent make-up artist Jodie Hegarty who was donating a number of 3D nipple tattoo treatments to raise money for CancerCare through our Profit Pledge scheme?

Well, since word got round, Jodie’s phone has been ringing off the hook with people enquiring about, and booking sessions for, what she offers.

On Sunday, our very own Development and Engagement Sarah received one of Jodie’s expert treatments to revamp and enhance the tattoo she received after her mastectomy surgery several years ago.

Sarah said: “I felt slightly nervous yet excited at the same time. This was the first ever appointment I can remember in my cancer experience that wasn't a clinical procedure in a hospital or a room in which I may have received bad news.

“It felt very ‘normal’ like booking a hair or nail appointment. It also felt like I was taking time to complete a very long, painful and emotional process in a really positive environment by someone who was friendly, sensitive and caring – not to mention highly-skilled.

“Jodie totally put my mind at ease and constantly checked to make sure I was feeling okay. She talked me through what she was doing step-by-step which was very reassuring. At the end, I was absolutely thrilled and felt a real sense of completion.
