This weekend was like no other for Janet and George Silverwood. A usual relaxing two days off was taken over by the gruelling David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge, which saw the pair run four miles every four hours for 48 hours!
The mother and son duo began the challenge on Thursday and finished on Saturday 4th March, in time for them to enjoy an evening of celebrations fuelled by adrenaline. They had the incredible support of their friends and family who joined them on foot or bike during the lengthy challenge.
“It was tough…really tough. This really pushed me a lot further than I anticipated. I couldn’t believe the amount of support we had. It was incredible to get messages at all times of the day and night. We couldn’t have done it without all the fantastic support crew of our family & friends and off people we hardly know,” said Janet.
Janet and George set out with a target of £500 but have raised over £3,400 which is astonishing! This phenomenal amount will pay for over 100 therapy sessions for people that need it most.
“Raising so much more money than what we thought for charity, we are beyond grateful for all your donations. The aches and pains are all worth it! Thank you to all,” said George.
“What I will take away from this challenge is how humbling it is to have such incredible support & goodwill off people. Human kindness really is the best,” said Janet.
Congratulations Janet and George and thank you for choosing to support CancerCare. Your donation will make a real difference and ensure nobody faces cancer or bereavement alone.
