For The Lads

CancerCare invites you to For The Lads, a night to listen, share and have open conversations about what really matters.

Join us at Kendal Rugby Club on Thursday 5th February 2026 from 7pm to 9.30pm for the ultimate boys’ night, where you can hear powerful stories to uplift and inspire. No topics are off the table!

For The Lads will be hosted by local fitness professional and Director of Project Cold, Jefferson Cartmell. We’ll welcome two special guest speakers to the stage. Henry Clark, a father, Youth Worker and published author, openly shares his experiences of being diagnosed with stage-four cancer and how he copes with the many challenges life has thrown at him, using raw and humorous accounts.

Proud Cumbrian Harrison Ward - also known as Fell Foodie - discovered passions for hiking and cooking following a drastic life change. These days, he can be found creating restaurant-quality meals on camping equipment in the hills or voicing his struggles with mental health and alcoholism.

A discussion panel will run, featuring our guests as well as healthcare professional Dr Chris Coldwell and speakers from Narcotics Anonymous and Andy’s Man Club. This will be an opportunity to ask anonymous questions, seek advice or simply listen to the discussion.

We hope you’ll join us for CancerCare’s first-ever men’s night, For The Lads.

Tickets are £20 per person and include a giant homemade sausage roll. All funds raised will go to CancerCare so we can support local people affected by cancer and bereavement.
