Join us for a breathtaking walk across the stunning sands of Morecambe Bay to the beautiful Chapel Island.

Chapel Island may be one of the “lesser-known” of the Bay Walks but that makes it all the more appealing – and intriguing!

You’ll be guided across the shifting sands by an expert from the Guide Over Sands Trust who will be on hand to keep you safe and give you the benefit of his wealth of experience and knowledge of the area’s history, flora and fauna – Chapel Island itself is home to a variety of birds.

The walk itself is around five miles there and back, taking around three hours, and there will be the chance to enjoy a picnic on the island before the return journey.

The walk begins at, and returns to, Sandgate near Flookburgh. It is not a difficult walk, but walkers are advised to have a decent standard of fitness. The walk will be supported by a quad bike in case of emergencies.
