£15 adults/£10 U16/£1 dogs
Join us for our first ever walk to the beautiful Chapel Island which nestles in the Leven Estuary in the stunning sands of Morecambe Bay.
Chapel Island may be one of the “lesser-known” of the Bay Walks but that makes it all the more appealing – and intriguing!
You’ll be guided across the shifting sands by expert Raymond Porter who will be on hand to keep you safe and give you the benefit of his wealth of experience and knowledge of the area’s history, flora and fauna – Chapel Island itself is home to a variety of birds.
The walk itself is around five miles there and back, taking around three hours, and there will be the chance to enjoy a picnic on the beach before the return journey.
The walk begins at, and returns to, Sandgate near Flookburgh. It is not a difficult walk, but walkers are advised to have a decent standard of fitness. The walk will be supported by a quad bike in case of emergencies.
