We were delighted to welcome Lady Shuttleworth to Slynedales this week to celebrate an incredible milestone – 25 years as CancerCare’s Patron.

Lady Shuttleworth has been a valued supporter and Patron of CancerCare for a quarter of a century, and we were pleased to have the opportunity to mark this special anniversary and thank her for her longstanding commitment to the charity and the people we support.

During her visit, Lady Shuttleworth enjoyed afternoon tea at Slynedales with members of the Executive Leadership Team, Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees Andrew Birchall and Sue Thompson, and CancerCare founder Malcolm McIllmurray. Lady Shuttleworth was then guided on a tour around the centre. It was a lovely opportunity to spend time together, share some of the work that takes place across CancerCare and reflect on the charity’s journey over the past 25 years.

To mark the occasion, Rachel Hearne and the Creative Metals Group created a beautiful silver brooch, and the celebrations also included a beautiful cake, lovingly made by one of our volunteers, Cassandra. It was wonderful for Lady Shuttleworth to meet with some of the Creative Metals group to thank them personally.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lady Shuttleworth for 25 years of support as CancerCare’s Patron. We are incredibly grateful for her continued commitment to our charity and the difference her support has helped us make to local people affected by cancer and bereavement.
