Great to welcome Victoria Sedgwick to our Lancaster Centre yesterday to discuss an exciting new photography collaboration with the young people from our Re-Fresh Youth Peer Support Group.
The project promises to be a really innovative one which will empower the young people, all of whom have been affected by cancer and bereavement, to tell their stories through photography.
We often take pictures of the young people who come to us for support as a way of promoting what we do and encouraging others to seek help. However, many are often wary of posing for photos in a traditional studio-style environment. This project will see them involved throughout the creative process and result in some powerful imagery of them and the people, places and things they love and hold dear.
While she was with us, Victoria also took this tremendous shot of former Re-Fresh member and now CancerCare volunteer Alisha, to help us promote our new cold water fundraising campaign, Dare2Dip.
Dare2Dip is asking people to plunge head-first out of their comfort zone and into a lake, river, sea – or our cold-water therapy pod - and nominate their friends family and colleagues to do the same.
We have already had lots of people braving the Baltic temperatures in water courses across the region and we have been taking the pod out to businesses who have been getting involved in the fun and raising money.
