Thrive project close to unveiling.

This week, our Director of Client Services Simona and Engagement Officer Sarah put their flatpack assembly skills to the ultimate test, erecting a new shed at our allotment at Ambleside Road in Lancaster.

They also began preparing the raised beds and, now that spring is here, you can get a real sense or the potential of the plot. We even had a few early shoots in the vegetable patch.

The aim is for this to be used as a form of outdoor therapy for our clients, young and old, as there is a wealth if research extolling the therapeutic benefits of being outside in the fresh air, being active and being creative in the garden.

We are also going to use it to grow vegetable for our Re-Fresh Young People's Support Group to use when they are cooking for each other at their weekly sessions.

There's still a fair bit of work to do, so If you have a few hours to spare, are handy with a spade and would like to get involved, email sarah.drake@cancercare.org.uk
