CANCER CHAMPIONS 1

We are looking to recruit a group of volunteers to take part in an ongoing project focused on raising awareness and encouraging open conversations within our local communities.

CancerCare is proud to be part of the Spring North Programme, an initiative focused on improving early cancer diagnosis. Spring North is a regional charity working across Lancashire and South Cumbria to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities in some of our most deprived communities.

The Cancer Awareness Champions project aims to recruit, upskill, and empower volunteers and workplace champions within hard-to-reach communities to promote cancer awareness, cancer screening, and early action if people are concerned about cancer or their physical health. The project is funded by the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance and will be coordinated by Spring North across the Lancashire and South Cumbria region.

Alongside this, you will share information about CancerCare, offering advice and details about our services to people who may need them.

Through a training session, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to support and signpost individuals who may be worried about cancer, helping them access appropriate services at an early stage.

The training sessions will cover key information about cancer awareness, early signs and symptoms, and how to guide individuals towards further support. By becoming a Cancer Awareness Champion, you can play a vital role in improving health outcomes within the community.
