Job Title: Community Fundraiser 

Reporting to: Neil Townsend
Location: Barrow, Cumbria
Salary: £20,000 to £23,000 pro rata depending on experience and skills
Hours: 2 days per week, 15 hours per week

Purpose of the role

To deliver CancerCare’s community fundraising activities in Barrow and across the Furness Peninsula, raising charity income, increasing awareness and enhancing the reputation of the organisation.

Main duties

Develop and deliver a community fundraising activity plan for Barrow and the Furness Peninsula which delivers income targets for the year.
Develop relationships with businesses, community groups and local fundraisers.
Maximise income generation for CancerCare in the most cost effective way.
To be the main point of contact for fundraising enquiries from the Furness area. Provide advice, support and encouragement to those who want to fundraise for us.

Recruit, cultivate and engage with a team of volunteers who are willing and able to support fundraising activities. Liaise with the volunteer coordinator in the recruitment of these volunteers. 

Accurately record all data relating to Furness fundraising contacts and donors on ThankQ (donor database).

In addition, other duties and responsibilities:

Attend functions, talks and cheque presentations on behalf of CancerCare.
Work with the Development Officer to advocate for CancerCare locally.
Be able to explain the Therapy Services and support groups available to clients.
Work with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure that community fundraising activity is adequately covered in magazines, newsletters, e-newsletters, and social media platforms, on the website and in all other CancerCare communications.
Adhere to CancerCare policies and procedures.
Achieve financial income targets, as agreed.

To represent CancerCare in a variety of different contexts and to a variety of different audiences.
To have a flexible approach to working hours, as required.
To participate in staff training, organisation/team meetings and events, as required.
To comply with CancerCare’s organisational policies.
