Youth Worker/Case Worker
We are looking to expand our Re-Fresh young people’s peer support group with a new Youth Worker/Case Worker at our Slynedales Centre in Lancaster.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of our youth services provision co-delivering, with another youth worker, our Re-Fresh peer support group which currently meets two nights each week and enjoys a full programme of off-site activities during the school holidays. The group is made up of young people aged 12-17 years, all of whom are experiencing a cancer diagnosis or bereavement within their family or friendship group.
As well as group activities, the new youth worker will also meet with the young people on a one-to-one basis to discuss any issues they may have and will take a lead on these individual conversations while the other youth worker prioritises the group activities.
The Re-Fresh group has been running in Lancaster for more than two years during which time it has helped dozens of young people. It has been such a success that this year we expanded it into CancerCare’s Kendal and Barrow centres.
