Hello everybody! We're still celebrating the fact that CancerCare has won £32,000 for Barrow in the People's Projects. Thank you to everyone who voted!

Thank you also to everyone who supported our Plant Sales and coffee mornings at both Slynedales in Lancaster and the Lakes Centre in Kendal.

We’re still finalising the amount raised but we estimate that a combined total of £826.50 was raised across the two centres.

We hope you managed to snap up some of the beautiful plants that were on offer. Do send us your pictures of the plants in their new homes!

This week, our focus has turned to our impending fundraising event - Bark in the Park - which will take place at Williamson Park on Sunday 13th May.

We’re hoping for another pawsome year, but we do need a little bit of help to spread the word! We’d be really grateful if you could share the event with your friends on social media, or take flyers to your local shops, cafes, vets or dog-walking spots.

Please do collect some flyers from the Fundraising Team (or drop us an email and we will bring them to you!)

Also this week, we’ve had a visit from our chief executive, Neil Townsend, to talk about our fundraising targets for the coming year.

We all know about the amazing work happening at CancerCare helping those in our community affected by cancer or other life-limiting conditions, but as demand for our support increases, so does the need for funds.

We’re working very hard to meet that need with a range of different income streams; including our CancerCare events, community fundraising, individual donations, grant funding, sale of goods, corporate support, the CancerCare Lottery and gifts left to CancerCare in wills.

While each of these methods of fundraising are different, the one commonality is the generosity of our wonderful CancerCare supporters.

Such generosity has been demonstrated recently in some of the kind donations we have received:

The Morecambe & Heysham Soroptimists have donated £200 after selecting CancerCare as one of their chosen charities for the year.

A group of students from the University of Cumbria have raised £83.19 by holding a cake sale on campus.

Kendal Calling music festival have donated a pair of tickets for us to auction in aid of CancerCare.

And we received a £500 donation from a gentleman who liked the thank you letter we sent him so much that he wanted to give again!

As always, drop us a line or come and say hello if you have any ideas, questions or feedback! Please see below for a list of events, donations and more.

Kindest regards,

Anna Webster, Fundraising Administrator
