Did you know:ovarian cancer awareness month 01

1. 7,100 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the UK each year making it the fifth most common form of cancer death in women, after breast, lung, bowel and womb cancer

2. Ovarian cancer symptoms are not necessarily easy to spot as they can be vague. Many women with a very early stage of ovarian cancer may have no symptoms at all.

3. Most women are diagnosed once the cancer has already spread which makes treatment more challenging.

4. The current five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer is 46%. If diagnosed at the earliest stage, up to 90 per cent of women would survive five years or more. This is why early diagnosis is so important

5. Research has shown that just 3% of women in the UK are very confident about recognising a symptom of Ovarian cancer
