Anna's Fundraising Update

There's something for everyone in our upcoming events

Learn about what the fundraising team has been up to this week in Anna's Fundraising Update.

Hello all,

Welcome to another weekly update from the CancerCare Fundraising Team!

You may recall that last week we told you that our friends at Maya Maya in Kendal had been having a big sale before their upcoming refurbishment, with 10% of proceeds from all sales to be donated to CancerCare. Well, we were thrilled to receive a telephone call from the store’s owner, Amanda Slattery, to tell us that she’d like to donate all the remaining Maya Maya stock to CancerCare to be used for raising even more funds! As you can imagine, our team of fundraisers now have lots of cogs spinning about possible fundraising events to make the most of this incredible donation – watch this space! Big thanks to Maya Maya for their wonderful support!

It’s been a hive of activity in the fundraising office as registrations opened for our ever pup-ular ‘Bark in the Park’ event. Has your pooch got what it takes to bring home a rosette? Join us for a family fun day, dog show, agility course, ‘Dog & Bone’ treasure hunt plus lots of doggy-related stalls and loads of kids activities on Sunday 24th March at Happy Mount Park, Morecambe. Register your four-legged friend at here.

We’ve also seen registrations open for the ‘Rampside Rush 10k’ organised by Tri-Island Running Club for later in the year. The family-friendly race, planned for Sunday 22nd September, will start and finish at Rampside Village Hall, a few miles south-east of Barrow In Furness, with all sponsorship money raised helping to support local families affected by cancer.

Our Great North Swim team taking shape and the team members have started raising their sponsorship! We can’t wait to hit Lake Windermere with them this summer! It’s not too late to join in – give us a call on 01524 381820 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.!

If ‘indoor’ is more your scene, don’t forget we have our fabulous 80s TV Games Night coming up on Friday 1st March at Dalton United Football Club.

And, of course, our ‘Keeping Good Company’ Spring Ball' at the gorgeous Abbey House Hotel, Barrow is just around the corner on Friday 12th April – there are only a few tables left so if your business or group want to join us for a night of great food, live entertainment and wonderful company (all in aid of CancerCare), contact Emma Athersmith This email address is being protected from spambots. As always, thank you to everyone who has donated this week. We’d like to end this week’s update with particular thanks to the families of James Winstanley, Alfred Macari, Jean Weisenburger, Noel Buller, Robert Brown and Gloria Hoyle, who have collected donations in memory of their loved ones. These very special donations will help to provide vital therapies and support to others in our community affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions. What truly remarkable gifts these are, given in memory of much-loved family members.

With the kindest Regards,

The Fundraising Team
