Neil's Christmas Blog

Good Morning to you all! This week, I have been looking back over my weekly blogs throughout the past 12 months and thinking about everything we’ve achieved together, in what has been a very busy, but exciting year.

None of what has happened in 2016, and indeed, the exciting plans we have for 2017 and beyond, could have been possible without the efforts of every member of the CancerCare family. To all our staff, trustees, volunteers, external partners and clients, a very sincere thank you.

An extra thank you goes out to those of you who are working over the holiday period, helping us deliver a limited, but essential service to those clients who need our help and find Christmas difficult.

But just before I go, I’d also like to share some truly inspirational words from a client, which I feel sums up perfectly what CancerCare is about, what we do and why we do it.

"I was referred to Slynedales after my chemo ended as I felt lost and was not coping, I had counselling sessions which really helped, then I was diagnosed with Lymphedema so am now having massages to reduce the puffiness, they are due to end and I have now been offered relaxation massages,, can’t wait, the staff are fab and treat you like a friend, they even arrange transport which is a fantastic help as I do not drive...not looking forward to the day when I will have to stop going."

So on this final note, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
