Good Morning! Monday this week was my 1st anniversary at CancerCare, 12 months have passed so quickly! It was also the first meeting of our Trustee Board in 2016 where we welcomed along new Trustees Anne Mayo and Shane Tickell to their first meeting.

RRW16I was also delighted to hear this week that we are finalists in the 'Best not-for profit Business/Charity' in the Lancashire Red Rose Business Awards 2016! This recognises the journey we have been on together over the past year or so, so it's down to all of you. The winners will be announced at a glittering dinner at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool in March.

The fab team from FGH supporting our Santa Dash event in 2015

Our Income Generation Team keep making excellent contacts and I am only too glad to do my bit to support the vital relationships with the business community. Fundraiser Penny arranged what turned out to be a really productive meeting with Peter Harrison and Wesley Downham from FGH Security who have been long-time supporters of CancerCare. I think they went away with a 'warm glow' about what we do and how we are trying to do more.

Yesterday was World Cancer Day. Thanks to everyone at CancerCare who got involved by posting their messages of support. You have all helped raise the profile CancerCare and supported other organisations across the world who are dedicated to any aspect of Cancer research, treatment and support. Our local campaign has certainly gone viral with lots of tweets and social media traffic!

Merial Pip and SueI was sad to hear the news, but not surprised after her recent move to Shropshire that our Jewellery Group tutor Pip Merrimen has decided to leave us after 12 years. I know she will missed by her groups and by all of us. Since I first met Pip she has been supportive and such a warm character full of life and dedication to our purpose. We wish her all the very best!

Neil.
