Coming back to work after your summer holidays has always reminded me of going back to school as a teenager after the long summer holiday!

A bit nervous of what you will come back to, a reminder of the jobs you didn’t finish before you went away and the feeling that summer is in the past. Well, this week, after a great holiday it’s good to be back and although it is September, we have so much going on and so many positive elements to our work to push on with.  I do feel like the new pupil with his shiny new shoes on!

My neighbours children told me they were bored and ready to go back to school, despite having an action packed few weeks. A bit Like 7 year old Rory, pictured below who took part in Bad Ass Mucker last weekend before going back to school, raising £202 for CancerCare and having something to tell his school friends about. Pretty inspiring stuff for such a young man.Rory Wood Sept 2015

This week I have been essentially catching up, a mix bag of post including the latest donation from our friends and supporters at Lakeland for £10k…..the organisation support of CancerCare never ceases to amaze me. Thank you to all at Lakeland!

Alison and I also met with a small sub group of our Trustees who have agreed to help and support aspects of future service development for our Barrow-in-Furness research project which, subject to funding will commence later this year. Their combined knowledge and experience is so valuable to us and I am grateful to them for their support and guidance.
