Good afternoon from a warm and sunny Lancaster!

My week started with an unusual request from Anna to sit, smile and hold a blank piece of paper and have my photo taken. The picture below was posted out via social media and was part of 'Thank You week' - a chance for us to  send out a sincere message  to all our wonderful volunteers &  supporters for all they do for the work of CancerCare!

thankyouweekIn the same vein, all the arrangements are in place for our 'Celebration of CancerCare' event being held next week at Leighton Hall. We have over 75 long standing supporters and associates who will be welcomed by Life President Professor Malcolm McIllmurray, Chairman Robert Webb and myself. This is a chance to say 'thank you' and more importantly, re-connect with a large audience about our future plans and aspirations.

Monday was dominated by our monthly Trustee Board meeting held in Kendal. The main items included a report on the skill matrix of current Trustees and approval to advertise for two new Trustees next month. In addition, I am pleased to report that Andrew Birchall has been appointed as our new Vice-Chairman.

On Thursday we met with members of the Kendal Palliative Care team to finalise the delivery of the Domiciliary Service in Kendal and surrounding area. This starts officially on September 1st and is being funded by the team above. A great piece of joined up work and hopefully will enable us to reach out to more clients who may not in the past has benefited from our service.

The weekend is upon us and I hope you have a good one - more  sunshine is promised!
