CancerCare CEO Neil's Weekly Blog

At the end of another busy week at CancerCare, we offer Christine Wardle, our Head of Income Generation, our very best wishes as she departs from her post.

CWChristine has helped firmly route fundraising into our charity and leaves behind a solid foundation for the team and her successor, once appointed. Thanks Christine and best wishes from all of us.

Earlier this week, I was delighted to go along with Den Bray and Grahame Marsh from the Bay Prostate Group, to visit the HR Advisor at Lancaster City Council, at their depot in Morecambe. We have agreed a number of men’s health awareness sessions with the work force and I have been invited to speak to a group of senior managers in the Council about our work, so a great opportunity for us to promote what we do with one of the largest work forces in our area.kate

On Tuesday, I met up with the second of our new Trustees, Kate Shawcross. Kate who lives in Lancaster, is a solicitor and works in Kendal. You will read more about her soon!

I must also give a “shout out” to Steven, our Tuesday morning receptionist here at Slynedales. He recently handled a very sensitive enquiry regarding a legacy superbly, thank you Steven. Indeed, all our volunteer reception team at both centres who, week in, week out, give excellent first point of contact to our clients and other visitors. Huge respect.

Heather and I have just returned from The Bay Radio's Business Breakfast, held at the Globe Arena in Morecambe. This was a great opportunity for meeting and talking to local businesses and potential supporters. The Bay Radio continue to be supportive to all third sector organisations across the area, which is very much part of their “community” role.

Entries to our next two fundraising events, Bark in the Park and the Cross Bay Challenge Walk, are now officially open so please encourage your family & friends to support us by signing up!

Have a good weekend all, Neil
