CancerCare CEO Neil's Weekly Blog

Good Morning! Blogging has resumed on a Friday and what a week.

The coverage in this week’s Lancaster Guardian was even better than we expected, a fitting finale to a great campaign. Read my final letter to readers as I take a look back at CancerCare Counts over the past 12 months.

CANCERCARECOUNTS

A warm CancerCare welcome to Anna Jackson who has started with us as our Head of Income Generation this week, and who is already brimming with ideas I am looking forward to working with Anna and all the team as we move forward.

David EatonMy week has been dominated by a number of key meetings, most notably a really productive meeting with the Commissioner of the new Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group. We left the meeting feeling positive about our relationship and how we can continue to help deliver the priorities of the local and national “Cancer” agenda.

This was re-affirmed at a later meeting with a group of nurses and consultants at the Oncology unit in Lancaster, arranged by our Trustee Dr David Eaton (pictured left) It gave us a great opportunity to talk about our services and what we do.

This week, like most weeks, we have welcomed members of a number of cancer support groups, who seem to go from strength to strength in terms of activity and peer support. The Bay Prostate Group reported standing room only at their meeting on Tuesday evening. To the individuals who run these groups, thank you - they such a key part of our CancerCare family.

Whatever you are doing have a great weekend.

Regards, Neil
